The Editor

Hi, I'm Meg!

My passions for reading and writing have been constants throughout my life. I will forever be that person who will happily spend my days rotting away in bed with a good romance book (or two or three or four...).

It was only natural that I followed my true loves to college at The University of Texas at Austin, where I received a degree in English and specialized in creative writing. I had one aim in mind: to do something—anything—that involves words. So, lo and behold, here I am!

Outside of my random working hours (and of course, reading-for-fun hours, which are a must), you might find me concocting my millionth off-the-dome mac and cheese recipe, crying profusely over wholesome and/or tragic incidents in an anime, or failing to restraint myself from buying cute trinkets.

The Story

The idea for Brave New Words Editing didn't happen overnight. If you've ever read a slow-burn romance... Well, you know what I've been going through for far too long. Lots of push and pull.

But we've made it!

Brave New Words is a blend of experiences from different areas of my career that I have spent the past few years putting my heart into. After college, I worked as an SEO content specialist alongside a variety of businesses and nonprofits. Today, I am the editor of a hyperlocal print magazine, a creative at a professional development company, and an anything-you-need-from-me contractor for my lovely self-published author clients.

Working closely with each of these groups and individuals allowed me to realize how much I love helping others take their stories to the next level. Their belief in me, along with my growing confidence in my abilities, led to this little biz I can now call my own.

The intention behind Brave New Words is to be more than an editing service. I hope that it will be a space where you can experience true transformation, however you define it. Your voice deserves to be heard, and you deserve someone in your corner who believes in you and wants you to keep pushing your storytelling boundaries.

Don't let grammar get in the way of greatness!

The Vision

Brave ideas need brave execution. That's why I envision a world where anyone's ideas can be brought to life with creativity and purpose. My approach to writing and editing is turning concepts into narratives that connect on a deeper level, no matter the project size.
